THE Droitwich Older People’s Forum remembered the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, with a strawberry tea at Teacups Cafe to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

The event had a 40s crooner to entertain the crowds and managed to raise £200 for the charity.

Jill Edwards from the Forum, said: “Our strawberry tea went extremely well. We started off in brilliant sunshine and although there was a short shower that didn’t dampen our spirits. Kevin our crooner sang ‘Singing in the Rain’ and it all cleared up and we carried on.

“Teacups Cafe have an outside seating area and we filled that. We had a really good turnout.

“The Forum is so grateful for all the residents who gave so generously. We marked the start of the First World War by thinking of those who are still suffering and the Royal British Legion do such marvellous work.”
