YOUNGSTERS from Droitwich High have been taking part in a programme of music, poetry, art and dance as part of a community development programme with Wychavon District Council.

The Youth Music Project saw young musicians and performance artists visiting care homes around the district including Copcut Court in Droitwich.

Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “It’s brilliant to be taking music and art back into care homes this year. We had a terrific response to the arts workshops supplied from various arts workers last year. The feedback we got from care workers was that there had been some really positive health and well-being benefits for the people being cared for in the homes and so we hope for the same again this year.

“The Youth Music performers have had to think about appropriate songs that the older people might like, which is a far cry from the latest chart music they are used to performing.”

Over the next few months the youngsters will take music, poetry and dance workshops to eight more venues, including Church Street Centre and Rashwood Care Home in Droitwich, and The Priory in Dodderhill.
