CHILDREN in Droitwich under 13 are being invited to design banners that will be displayed throughout the district for the Tour of Britain.

The tour is the UK’s biggest professional cycle race, and it will be passing through the Wychavon district on September 10 with cyclists free to watch as they race through Broadway, Evesham and Pershore.

Each of the towns will feature a 3x1 metre banner, all sporting the winning design from a district-wide competition. The design will also appear of flags for the spectators to wave.

Fern Canning, assistant community development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “We are looking for designs that are creative and colourful. Make sure when designing your banner you think about cycling and what Wychavon and your town is best known for. The most eye-catching design will be printed on the banners and the flags that will be unveiled and waved when the tour passes through.”

The deadline for entries is Friday, August 8 Entries and entries are limited to one per person.
