YOUNGSTERS in Droitwich stuck for something to do this summer, should head over to their local library and take advantage of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

This year’s theme is celebrating all things mythical with the ‘Mythical Maze’, and children can sign up for the challenge and pick up a Mythical Maze poster at Droitwich Library.

To take part in the challenge, youngsters will have to try and read six books of their choice over the summer holidays, collecting stickers and incentives along the way.

The children who complete the challenge will receive a special certificate and a medal.

Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for localism and communities, said: "We are hoping to attract as many children as possible to the start of the summer reading challenge. This allows all levels of reading ability to engross themselves in the magic and creativity of exciting stories and be rewarded for it at the end of the challenge."

The Summer Reading Challenge is free to join and open to all children aged between four and 11. It’s not a competition, but a personal challenge for young readers to push themselves with.
