THE Post Office branch in Victoria Square in Droitwich is being given a make-over, which will see it becoming more open-plan and increasing its opening hours.

The changes are part of a move by the Post Office to modernise its network with 8,000 branches being modernised.

The new-look branch will have five serving points, two with modern screens, two open plan, and one based at a retail counter.

Opening hours following the make-over will be from 8.30am to 5.30pm during the week, as well as from 9am to 5.30pm on Saturdays and Sunday, adding an extra four and a half hours to it’s opening time.

Post Office area manager Mark Jacobs, said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to the people of Droitwich and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

Hte Post Office branch will be closing for the refurbishment from 1pm on Saturday, July 12, and the new-look branch will be opening from 1pm on Friday, July 25.

During its closure, customers are advised to use the branches on Farmers Way in Westlands, Worcester Road in Wychbold, and High Street in Bromsgrove.
