IN the run up to the Droitwich Spa Food Festival at the end of the month, pupils from Westlands First School got busy in the kitchen with a professional chef, to prepare a meal for their school governors.

Nine children from year three worked with Nigel Cooke, the head chef from St Andrew’s Town Hotel in Droitwich, to serve a three-course meal to the governors.

The children were introduced to new ingredients, and prepared the food themselves, setting the dining table correctly, and serving the food themselves.

The morning was spent tasting the various ingredients, with the afternoon spent preparing and cooking, ready for the meal in the evening.

Paula Martin from the St Andrew’s Town Hotel, said: “A great day was had by all. The hotel may even have some new recruits for its kitchen; in a few years’ time anyway.”
