LADIES from Gaudet Luce Golf Club were able to present a cheque to Macmillan Cancer Care for £1,000 as a result of their annual 3 Ball Alliance Competition on May 15.

More than 100 golfers representing 21 clubs from all over the Midlands played at this popular event at the club.

Joan Woodhams, 2014 Ladies section Captain told The Advertiser that all this year’s captains at Gaudet Luce had chosen Macmillan as their charity for the year and that sections will be holding various events to raise funds for the charity.

“This has got us off to a great start. The result was fantastic," said Joan.

"Thanks are due to the club management for their help and support in freely providing the course, which was in excellent condition on the day, as well as to all those who travelled from around the area to compete.”

The winners were Pauline Terry and Claire Maiden of Ombersley G.C. with Libby Nicholl of Droitwich G.C. runners up were a team from the home club.

Other events planned by the Gaudet Luce captains include the Macmillan Longest Day Golf Challenge.

Joan said: "“Two teams, each of four golfers from the club, will be aiming to play four full rounds of golf on our course on August 1 starting at dawn.

"We hope they will be able to secure a large amount of sponsorship for their efforts, so that we can add much more to our charity fund."
