FRIENDS of Droitwich Spa Lido (FODSL) is providing hundreds of free swimming tickets.

FODSL has spent fundraising money to acquire 650 tickets for entrance to the lido this summer.

Chairman of FODSL, Suzi Wood, said: "We chose to spend money this way in order to help promote the Lido and bring customers to our excellent facility who maybe had not attended before."

Some tickets are being given to local schools and organisations. Free tickets can also be won on a tombola on St Richard’s Day.

FODSL is also organising late night swims, which have proved popular in previous years during the summer.

The swims are being held on June 21, 28, and July 5 and 6.

Late night swims takes place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with live music played to entertain the swimmers.

The evenings are being supported by the music festival. Further details will be communicated nearer the dates and as part of the music festival programme.

Suzi added: "We had a very good summer last year and I hope everyone supports the Lido again this year. With some of the fundraising money we have made we are supporting the heating bills at the Lido so that the water temperature can be increased slightly."

The Lido open on Saturday, May 24.

Sandra Smith, Lido Manager, said: "Wychavon Leisure are pleased to be part of this initiative and would like to thank FODSL for their continued support for this wonderful facility."
