RESIDENTS in Worcestershire are being invited to come along to an information event and have their say on the Patient Transport Service, to help shape the service and offer views about how patient experience can be improved.

The current service contract is set to expire and the three Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Groups (NHS South Worcestershire CCG, NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG and NHS Wyre Forest CCG) are set to begin the process of re-procuring the service.

The Patient Transport Service is for patients with a medical need meaning they require transport to and from hospital or other healthcare services for outpatient appointments and inpatient treatment. The service provides for a range of clinical circumstances such as, a patient may need to be transported lying down or to have oxygen while travelling.

The event is taking place on Tuesday, May 27  at St Peter’s Baptist Church Centre, Eden Close, Worcester, starting at 6pm and will offer the chance for people to come along, find out more about the service, offer suggestions to improve the service going forward and ask any questions about the current service.

The CCGs wants to hear from patients, clinicians and care professionals, who have experience of using the Patient Transport Service. They would like to know what has worked well and what has not; all feedback will be used in the development of the new service specification.

Project Manager, Ferduse Sadiq, who is leading this work on behalf of the CCGs said: “It’s vital that we hear about all elements of the current service, to see if people are happy with it and receive suggestions on how it can be improved. I would encourage anyone who wants to find out more and have their say to attend our event.

“If there’s anyone that’s unable to attend the event, there’s a number of other ways to get involved, feedback can be sent to us via a short survey, available on all three CCG websites or by email to CCGComms@worcestershire.nhs.uk.”

More information about how to get involved and directions to the event are available on any of the three CCG websites, under the ‘Get involved’ section. The closing date for comments is June 2.
