A GROUP of amateur performers from Droitwich travelled to Halifax recently for an epic national aftershow party.

The performers from the Norbury Theatre, took advantage of a scheme last year to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research with a production of ‘Calendar Girls’.

The rights to the show were released for 18 months from September 2012, with theatre companies all over the country taking the opportunity to stage their own fundraising productions, as well as producing their own calendars and Christmas cards.

Across the UK the various productions raised more than £100,000, and on Sunday, May 18, a huge aftershow party was organised at the Yorkshire Showground for all the performers including those from the Norbury, to come together and celebrate their achievement, over afternoon tea with the play’s writer Tim Firth, and some of the original calendar girls.
