PEOPLE in Bromsgrove and Droitwich are being invited to have a go at sailing as part of an open day being organised through the national Royal Yachting Association’s Push the Boat Out weekend later this month.

Aztec Adventure at Upton Warren, and Upton Warren Sailing Club, will be organising activites for beginners and those wanting to refresh their skills on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at the centre near Droitwich.

Gareth Brookes, RYA regional development officer for the Midlands, said: “All of our clubs and centres in Worcestershire run accessible, affordable and inclusive activities for all, regardless of age, gender, background or experience.

“These events are an incredible opportunity for local people in Worcestershire to discover what sailing and sailing clubs are really like, and enjoy a fantastic, social outdoor sport where everyday life really does get left on the shore.”

The free open days have been organised to encourage people to give sailing a try, and booking is essential for some of the activities

Some of the centres taking part are also making refreshments available, as well as barbecues and other social activities.

To take part in the free sessions, all people will need is a change of clothes, soft soled shoes and a towel. Everything else will be provided by the club.
