PEOPLE in Droitwich are being asked to nominate outstanding young people who are making a difference in the community, for awards to recognise their contributions.

The Young Good Citizen Award scheme is being run by West Mercia Police in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the High Sheriff of Worcestershire to celebrate achievements which might otherwise go unrecognised.

Young people aged 18 or under are eligible for the award, who have overcome challenges in their lives and made a difference in the community , and they must have demonstrated their commitment to helping others and making a difference in their area, either through an individual contribution to a group activity, or by actively supporting a group activity.

Chief inspector Jim Baker, lead officer for the award, said: "We have some outstanding young people throughout the West Mercia policing area and their actions go largely unnoticed.

"This is an opportunity for those young people to be recognised for the good work they do and the contribution they make to their communities."

To nominate a young person for the award, visit westmercia.police.uk and download a form, obtain permission and signature from the young person's parent or guardian, and when completed, return the form to Leanne Gregory, c/o Operations Dept, West Mercia Police, Hindlip Hall, PO Box 55, Worcester, WR3 8SP. The closing date for nominations in Thursday, July 31, 2014.
