A taste of the town as Droitwich gets its own real ale

DROITWICH is set to have its own bespoke ale thanks to a new initiative by the Chateau Impney Hotel.

The beer, which has been named The Imp, works with the Chateau’s Anglo-French heritage, using Aramis hops from the Alsace in France, and English Maris Otter malts, combined with natural well water.

It has been created in hopes of attracting real ale aficionados to the area, but also with the aim of becoming a local favourite, sold exclusively through the hotel’s two bars and it restaurant.

Ben Elder, Chateau Impney’s general manager, said: “When we decided to offer our own ale, we considered how we could best represent the hotel’s unique character and history.

“We knew that we had to celebrate the Chateau’s French legacy and its proud British roots, so we have worked closely with a local brewery to source the finest ingredients and develop a distinctive taste.”

The ale is part of a wider project by the Chateau Impney to give its guests, an authentic taste of the region, with local food suppliers, as well as rearing its own lambs for use in the restaurant, and plans to plants orchards in the grounds.

Mr Elder added: “When people come to stay or dine at the hotel, we want them to have a unique experience. Therefore, we’re delighted to be launching a Droitwich beer that can only be found at Chateau Impney. Customers who have already sampled it have been very enthusiastic in their feedback, and we are looking to hearing from more local people and guests as they enjoy a pint or two over the next few months.”
