PEOPLE wanting to access adult social services in Worcestershire will have to deal with a new system after the county council announced a change to help improve customer service.

The changes are intended to make is easier for people to access the service through the contact number of 0845 6072000.

Instead of being put through to the council’s customer services hub, callers will be asked whether they’re calling about adult social care, whether they need to speak to a specific social worker, or whether they want to speak to children’s services.

They’ll then just need to press a button to go straight to the service they want.

Councillor Sheila Blagg, cabinet member for adult social care, said: "I know many people want easier access to services. This change is designed to make it easier for people to speak directly to someone in adult social care rather than going through to a general call centre and then having to tell their story again when they go through to adult social care.

"At busy times callers will be able to leave a voicemail request and will then be called back by someone from Adult Social Care."
