THE Norbury Players are taking to the stage in March with a new production of the classic 80s play ‘Stepping out’ which follows the trials and tribulations of a north London amateur dance class.
The comedy was written by Richard Harris after he was persuaded to come and watch one of his wife’s own dance classes, and it tells the story of Mavis, a former professional chorus girl, as she tries her hardest to teach her beginners tap dance class made up of all women, and one man, some skills for an upcoming recital, while they get distracted by their own dramas and inhibitions.
Director Tony Catchpowle, said: “I am so lucky to have so much talent in such a small area and I have truly been blessed to have such a great cast, who all bring something different to the show and such a wonderful theatre in which to perform. We have our own West End right on our doorstep.”
The play was originally made into a musical, and then a film in 1991 with Liza Minelli and Julie Walters.
The production will be arriving on stage at the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich from Thursday, March 6 to Saturday, March 8 and from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15 from 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 or £9 for concessions. For more information or to book tickets, call the theatre on 01905 770154 or visit norburytheatre.co.uk.
