SMOKERS across Worcestershire are being urged to stub out their cigarettes for this year's No Smoking Day.

Anti-smoking campaigners with healthy living enterprise Mytime Active will be out and about in Worcester city centre in the lead up to the annual event run by the British Heart Foundation on Wednesday, March 12, hoping to inspire them to give up the habit for good.

It is estimated there are almost one million smokers in the West Midlands, but studies show about two thirds of them want to quit.

Senior manager with Myime Active Anna Skeats said: “No Smoking Day is a great opportunity for us to encourage and support smokers in Worcestershire to quit alongside hundreds of thousands of other people across the UK.

"We know that quitting isn’t easy but we want to reassure smokers that support is available to them and that they can win the battle against cigarettes.

“There’s a much higher chance of succeeding with support. Our activity is crucial to helping smokers on the road to victory and towards a healthier and wealthier smoke-free life.”
