A GERMAN businesswoman has been evicted from her luxury £1.25 million apartment in an Elizabethan mansion after she emailed her wealthy neighbour telling her to hang herself.

Sabina Carter has been kicked out of her palatial home in Westwood House, a 17th Century property near Droitwich Spa.

The 50-year-old, who lived in the former Tudor ballroom, was made bankrupt in 2010 and was taken to court by the home's residents' committee over money she owed.

Divorced Carter was given a harassment warning in September 2012 which ordered her to have no contact with the chairman Janice Brookes.

According to Mrs Brookes, a jeweller, Carter owed around £11,000 in service charges all 12 residents paid for the upkeep of the grounds and house.

But a court heard the former Lufthansa air hostess sent Mrs Brookes, 48, an obscene email which contained swearing and comments of a sexual nature on November 13 last year.

Carter wrote: "My only other suggestion is that you go and hang yourself but with your own low IQ you couldn't manage that either."

Mum-of-two Carter pleaded guilty to sending an email that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character when she appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday , February 5.

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £250 compensation to Mrs Brookes as well as £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Prosecutor Jackie Rogers told the court Carter struggled to get on with neighbours at Westwood House - which has been split into 12 luxury apartments.

In a victim impact statement, Mrs Brookes - who was made chairman of the residents' committee in July 2012 - said she found the email "distressing and disgusting".

Paul Nicholls, defending, said Carter had been "under strain" and was being evicted for defaulting on her mortgage repayments.

He added: "It is not a nice email. She wrote as a 15-year-old rather than a 50-year-old.

"Things have settled down now."

The court heard the businesswoman now plans to move back to her native Germany where her mother is undergoing chemotherapy.

Back in 2009, Carter - who is divorced from her British husband - told her she was trying to sell her 3,000 sq ft flat in Westwood House because she needed money.

The property, which includes an Elizabethan salon with 24ft-high ceilings, a kitchen and two bedrooms, was put on the market for £1.25million.

She bought another apartment in the house which had fallen into disrepair and had hoped to refurbish it with the money from the sale of the ballroom.

But after no sellers made any offers she was forced to remortgage the property until she was made bankrupt.

Carter, who lived in the flat with her two children, said at the time: "I want the money.

"And I want to downsize to somewhere more cosy and less grand."

Carter bought the dilapidated apartment for just £237,000 in 1999 when she came to Worcestershire to buy up high-end businesses which she then sold back to wealthy Germans.

Picturesque Westwood House was built by the Packington family who lost their home in the English Civil War and had risen from obscurity with Henry VIII.

The plaster decoration on the walls dates from Elizabeth I's reign but the ceiling inside Carter's salon was a gift from Charles II for the family's loyalty.

Neighbours of Carter yesterday said she had left Westwood House.

Mrs Brookes was unavailable for comment yesterday as she was on holiday in Barbados.
