A police-led initiative to get residents to make their homes as safe as possible is coming to Droitwich Spa for the first time.
The Love Your Home one-stop shop will be open for two days at the old carpet shop in St Andrew’s Square shopping centre between 10am and 3pm on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
Everyone is invited to pop in and learn how to protect themselves and their property from crime and receive general safety advice.
Residents will be able to get advice from officers on crime prevention, pick up some free items and learn about services such as property marking and the Immobilise website, where people can register their valuable items for free.
Joining officers will be Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Wychavon Community Safety, Festival Housing and Neighbourhood Watch.
Meanwhile, children will be able to enter colouring and drawing competitions where prizes can be won.
The Love Your Home shop has been set up in Worcester’s Crowngate Shopping Centre for a week in February for the last three years, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
Inspector Janet Heritage, Safer Neighbourhood Team inspector for Wychavon, said: “I have held previous events in Worcester, Pershore and Evesham. Each event has been very well attended and people have gone away with good advice and leaflets. I have received very good comments from people who have found them beneficial.
“It is the ideal time to come and see us while we are all under one roof. If we can prevent one person from becoming a victim, it is all worthwhile.
“I would like to day a big thank you to St Andrew’s management for letting us have the event in its shop.”
