A DETERMINED Spa schoolboy is attempting to swim the same distance as the English Channel to raise charity cash.
Royal Grammar School Worcester pupil Robert Hallam is attempting the feat at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre, Briar Mill, as part of his school's flourishing fivers scheme.
The 12 year old is taking on the 22 miles, which is 1,416 lengths of the centre's swimming pool, in separate sessions each day after school.
He said: "This a long way to swim and a big challenge for me. I'm going swimming after school and at weekends to complete this as soon as possible, and by the end of 2013 at the latest.
"My school has chosen St Richard's Hospice as the charity we are all going to raise money for this year. St Richard’s does great work caring for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses."
