Mayor of Droitwich's Christmas message
11:30am Tuesday 24th December 2013 in Local
THE mayor of Droitwich Spa has issued a Christmas message to residents of the town.
Councillor Tom Noyes said: "On behalf of the councillors and officers of Droitwich Spa Town Council, I offer you our Christmas greetings.
"Christmas is always a special time of year and I would ask you all to bring peace, hope and friendship to each other. Forgive now those who made you unhappy as you might not get another chance.
"Every year seems to bring on a new challenge and this year has been no different. National austerity, local flooding and proposed Yew Tree developments are currently in our minds. Let's pray that our Government, officers and councillors will be able to bring peace to this area of our lives where we have so little control.
"It is sad that we have come to accept terrorism, wars and conflicts as part of everyday life. To all those who serve in the forces, wherever in the world, may they return soon and unharmed and know that they have contributed to world peace.
"I would like to add special wishes to all those who will be working over the Christmas period in the emergency services, in hospitals and care homes and to the many hundreds of carers who look after family, friends and vulnerable persons.
"There are many events and special occasions during the year and I would like to thank the organisers, the volunteers and you, the people of the Spa, for your support and for contributing to the community spirit which makes Droitwich Spa so vibrant.
"Finally, to my wife and consort Glenise, deputy mayor Bob Brooks and his wife Veronica, very special thanks and best wishes for their support throughout the year. I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous new year."
