Droitwich landlord launches new lifestyle app
3:00pm Sunday 8th September 2013 in Local
A DROITWICH landlord has launched its own ‘lifestyle’ app as part of a campaign to improve the fitness and well being of tenants and staff.
Festival Housing, which has offices in the centre of Droitwich and over 9,000 homes in Worcestershire and Herefordshire, has developed the innovative app.
It can be downloaded for free and is constantly updated with monthly fitness challenges as well as regular articles, advice and information on health and exercise.
“We believe we are amongst the first housing organisations in the country to launch such as initiative,” said Caroline Winnall, the company’s health and well being co-ordinator.
“The app is already being used by many of our residents and staff who are taking part in our monthly challenges. The tasks are set in conjunction with a fitness advisor and include things like running, cycling and swimming and there are various levels and timetables for different abilities and ages.”
She said that Festival also undertook a range of exercise and diet classes for its tenants and published regular information on well being.
Festival tenant Selena Davies of Droitwich said: “The app is easily accessible and free. It's great because it's updated regularly with lots of relevant and interesting information as well as monthly fitness challenges which I love and great tips on how to improve my lifestyle. I've always struggled with my self-confidence and wouldn't feel comfortable joining a gym so this is a great way to access health and fitness information.”
On completion of the monthly challenges tenants and any of Festival’s staff can update their results to online leader boards at www.gymgamesonline.co.uk.
The app can be downloaded for free by the public from google play store by searching for Festival Housing Lifestyle App.
