PEOPLE are being asked to part with a pound to help support St Richard’s Hospice.

The Worcester-based charity, which was started in Droitwich Spa, is running the initiative from March 1 - 8.

Fundraisers hope individuals, businesses, community groups and clubs around the county will make the week one to remember and raise as much cash as possible.

St Richard’s corporate fundraiser Rachel Jones said: “We held Part with a Pound for the first time last year and had a great response. It’s such a fun and simple way to support St Richard’s. You can dress up, dress down or dress wacky or simply give up your magazine or chocolate bar for the day and donate £1. All those pounds add up and help make a big difference to adults across Worcestershire with life threatening illnesses.”

She added: “It’s entirely up to individuals and companies or groups what they would like to do for their £1 - it may be asking customers to donate a pound, wear coloured themed clothing, eating cake, or wearing a funky tie.”

Everyone who registers will receive a fundraising pack with lots of ideas. On the day employees and volunteers of St Richard’s Hospice will visit as many supporters as possible to thank them and pick up the money raised.

One of the first to register is Worcester’s Premier Places letting agency which is sponsoring the event.
