YOUNG people are being reminded they still have chance to apply for apprentice positions with Wychavon District Council.

The council wants to take on five people to work at its offices.

The vacancies cover a wide range of interesting areas from helping out with general office duties right through to learning the ropes when it comes to promoting council messages through media releases and social media.

Nicky Harris, from Wychavon’s personnel department, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn new skills in a sector they might not have considered before. While youth unemployment is comparatively low in the district, we want to do all we can to provide local opportunities at Wychavon.”

Rob Burford, former apprentice, added: “My year as an apprentice was a great opportunity and helped me immensely in my qualification and gaining administrative experience. I have now been fortunate enough to secure a full time position at Wychavon.”

The five apprentices could find their way to working in areas including personnel, development and payroll, housing, planning or property and parking.

Anyone over 16 and not in full time employment can apply and have until tomorrow (December 14) to get their application in at apprenticeships.gov.uk
