PUPILS will be eager to get in pole position to witness a piece of motor racing history when a Formula One car speeds into school.

Droitwich Spa High School and Sixth Form Centre, Briar Mill, will welcome Martin Boyes from McLaren F1 and a team sports car on Monday, December 17.

Mr Boyes will be handing out certificates to year 12 and 13 students during a celebration end-of-term assembly at 2pm.

He will also explain to pupils the qualities that McLaren look for in potential employees.

During the visit, the famous Formula One car will be in the school’s main concourse for everyone to enjoy.

Mr Rob Elmes, director of Sixth Form, said: “This is probably a unique opportunity for our students to be this close to such an iconic piece of engineering. Many of us watch Formula One on the television, but to be able to get up this close is a real one off. I am sure the students will be inspired by it.”
