WORCESTERSHIRE residents will be kept warm this winner thanks to a funding boost of £247,000.

It has been announced that Worcestershire County Council, on behalf of the Warmer Worcestershire Network, has received the sum from the Department of Health.

The funding will be used to offer a range of services to help people keep warm and well this winter. These services will include a free energy advice line.

The Warmer Worcestershire Network is a partnership between public and voluntary sector organisations including Worcestershire County Council, the area’s district councils, Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

Councillor Anthony Blagg, cabinet member with responsibility for environment, said: "The Warmer Worcestershire Network has helped over 2,500 residents benefit from energy efficiency measures such as cavity wall and loft insulation, and I am delighted that this additional funding will be able to help even more residents".
