SIR – I am writing to correct the misunderstanding your article ‘City splashes out on new £13m pool’ (Worcester News, June 22) appears to have created.
The council has begun the process of considering how to replace the current pool but no commitments can be made right now as the detail of the build costs and running costs are not yet known.
Funding any new facility will be difficult in the current financial climate but without knowing the detail no commitments have been made as yet.
The council will be considering a detailed business case in February 2013. This is all clearly laid out in the cabinet report papers for the meeting you reported on.
DUNCAN SHARKEY
Managing director, Worcester City Council
