SIR – How inconsiderate of neighbours that the first thing they want to do when we have anything like a nice day’s weather is have a bonfire.

For weeks we’ve suffered constant rain which prevents people from being in their gardens but as soon as the weather improves we have to suffer smoke inhalation from smouldering bonfires.

What’s wrong with taking garden waste to the tip or using the council’s brown bins? If a bonfire is necessary, why not have it at night when people are less likely to be in their gardens? Surely, the council can impose restrictions on inconsiderate neighbours as they would for anti-social behaviour.
