SIR – Re the letter by Jan Vale, chairman of the Friends of the Swan Theatre, Worcester, ‘Don’t miss the great shows in our city (Worcester News, June 22).

I would like to issue a call to arms to all individuals and organisations in the arts to join together and help one another promote our events throughout Worcester and the county.

The Worcestershire Literary Festival was well supported this year but I, too, also appeal to the residents of Worcester and the surrounding areas to support the arts in the city now more than ever, especially with the Hive opening its doors on Monday and the arena coming to the city next year. The Worcestershire Literary Festival committee will be holding an open meeting in Worcester at the end of July and further details will be available about this meeting shortly.

All are welcome, regardless of the art discipline you are in, and if you would like to join us and help each other promote our events and festivals we would be delighted to welcome you at this meeting.

In the meantime, anyone interested in this can contact me via lisa@worcslitfest.com.

We have some fantastic events and venues in the city and county . It would be a huge shame to lose what is right on our own doorstep, but if we all work together we might stand a chance of gaining more of those vital bums on seats before it is too late.
