SIR – Ed Miliband tells us that Labour got it wrong on immigration yet people were telling Labour 10 years ago that this was the case.

Miliband was a member of the party during this time when Labour introduced laws on race and equality that dumbed down the debate on immigration and tainted decent citizens with name calling such as racists.

Now it seems it is all right for Labour to talk about it.

Miliband hails the minimum wage as a flagship of the last Labour government but it only had the effect of companies recruiting labour from abroad that was willing to work for less.

Labour has done irreparable damage to our country and it is impossible to count the cost of their mistakes, financially socially and environmentally.

All public services are counting the cost. Labour degraded our quality of life and standards to meet the needs of the millions of immigrants who have entered our country.

No wonder there was no money left in the Treasury when they left office.

There are still hundreds of thousands of Labour supporters who are in denial of the mistakes that Labour made. Mistakes that may never be righted. Will never be righted.

The present state of the country is the outcome of 13 years of Labour government.

Those of us who are suffering the effects should realise that it is not the making of the present government.

The coalition is left with a legacy, not only of crippling debt, but health, education, housing and other public service (including elderly care) degradation.
