SIR – It is the same old story with regards to the advice given by Worcester City Council to ease the city’s parking woes (Worcester News, June 19).

The proposals included new signs to direct drivers to car parks and a fresh drive to encourage people to take public transport.

Car parking and bus fares are far too dear to persuade the public generally to use them and, as far as buses are concerned, the timetables are not reliable or frequent enough.

Until such time that bus fares and parking charges are at reasonable prices the car driver is not going to give up the convenience of independence.
