SIR – Concerning Stanley D Parr, Wednesday, March 18, no you are not a hypocrite – pershap a bit fussy. If you can afford a new or nearly new car your choice is very limited if you want to buy British.
My experience is totally the opposite. The first car was in 1956, a 1938 Ford 8, that was a bit rough. Since then I have not had a bad car, all British.
Hillman Imps – I have owned five – all worked very hard, driving schools, rallies and other motoring events, UCM reliable.
I have been very pleased with all my cars, my present one is 11 years old and 105,000 miles on the clock. Absolutely lovely and a Rover.
JOHN NORWOOD,
Kidderminster.
