SIR – Having spent 27 years working as a district nurse in Worcester, I saw at first hand the wonderful care shown by the area’s GPs to their patients.
All GPs in Worcester have working practices in place to provide a first class service to their patients. It can be hard to find the more personal service but if you are prepared to wait for your appointment, it is there.
In Worcester, in addition to our GP service, the local hospital provides an excellent out-of-hours computerised service.
I have also heard that the surgery in the Barbourne area has been organising weekend and evening surgeries. These have both been improvements for the better so are these being fully utilised before looking to provide additional healthcare in Worcester?
I believe patients are loyal to their GP and want to remain in the current system.
So, vote with your feet and stay away from the walk-in clinics. I’m sure we can all think of better uses for the money.
V CONNELLAN SRN RNN,
District nurse (retired), Worcester.
