Hadzor & Oddingley WI
Our March meeting was opened by Mary Gray in her traditionally warm manner . She wended her way though the packed room to welcome yet another new member.
Plans for the coming year included a proposed trip to Abergavenny market, a pig roast and barn dance, alongside regular meetings of walkers, needleworkers and artists - who is at home to cook the dinner ?
Also, donations to charity were collected via a very pretty, spring flower competition. There was also a writing competition announced, which had to end with a particular punch line.
Then we had a most interesting, illustrated talk about the Isle of Man. The presenter, Cathy Jones, was drawn there originally to explore her family history, but unearthed amazing places and people from the TT races to superstitions, the parliament and even the women incarcerated there during World War II. After tea and chat we did go home eventually.
