Hanbury WI
Greta opened the meeting and welcomed a full house. Marion read the minutes and said Angela had volunteered to arrange flowers in March for WI House.
Frances will draw the team for the next skittles match to be held on March 27. We were reminded that the jumble sale is to be held on May 17 at Droitwich Old Library. Help will be available for transporting jumble if needed. Angela would like to begin organising the Hanbury walk and will arrange a meeting at her home next week. WI membership booklets are available if anyone would like one.
Clare will attend the annual council meeting on March 27.
Stoke Prior has invited us to join them on the first Thursday in the month for their afternoon meetings. Our speaker for the evening was a potter and his wife who were introduced to us. John and Annette Christophers came to demonstrate Fun with Clay. While John told us a little of the history of clay, he mentioned the simple pleasure that children, if encouraged, derive from it. The ball clay he was rolling then became a simple but attractive pot which, when fired, could be used to hold water. We were each given a small ball of clay and asked to make a small plaque, together with our initials and a symbol of a hobby upon it. These were then collected and joined together by Annette to form one large decorative bowl which, after being fired, they will kindly give to us. Audrey gave the vote of thanks for a very entertaining evening and, as the meeting had been closed, we were able to purchase from a range of varied and attractive pottery made by John and Annette. The competition, a pottery piece, was won by Stephanie.
