Droitwich WI
4:25pm Wednesday 13th February 2008
The president reported on the group convenors meeting, with details of the next meeting in Himbleton and the autumn one in Salwarpe. Ideas for group activities and outings are being sought and we look forward to these as we are too small in numbers to organise much ourselves. A delightful card and letter has been received from our twin WI, St Gabriel's, and our president Margaret has written to try and arrange a meeting with their delegate at the council meeting in Malvern.

2:31pm Thu 7 Feb 08
IN stark contrast to a dreary Monday outside, the air was filled with fun, frivolity - and balloons - as Probus '87 celebrated the 21st anniversary of its formation at the Raven Hotel. Richard Morris, the mayor of Droitwich, and the mayoress, along with chairman Keith Garvey and his wife Peggy, were among the many guests who had flocked far and wide to join members of the club in a sumptuous five course meal, which also included the presentation of badges to seven founder members. In a symbolic link between past and present, Eric Davis, himself a founder member and chairman in 1991-93, is shown cutting the cake. Bubbly was followed by entertainment from baritone Allan Astley-Morton and soprano Natalie Pinfield-Williams - granddaughter of an eminent past member. May Probus '87 continue to prosper.
