FIVE-STAR FUNDRAISERS: Amber Winship, Jade Winship and Sophie Vick with Alison Weston, from St Richard's Hospice.

BUDDING entrepreneurs turned five-star fundraisers when they put their skills to the charity test.

More than 30 year eight pupils at Droitwich High School took part in the flourishing fivers scheme in aid of St Richard's Hospice.

The pupils were each given £5 and set the challenge of turning them into as much cash as possible to donate to the hospice.

The students came up with a variety of ingenious fundraising activities including making and selling cookies and marmalade, dog walking and offering a homework help service.

“The group raised a wonderful amount of money thanks to their determination, initiative and business skills. We are very grateful for their support.”

Overall, the £5s grew into £570, beating last year's total. The Worcestershire scheme, now in its third year, has managed to raise more than £8,000.

Alison Weston, the hospice's community fundraiser, said: "The group raised a wonderful amount of money thanks to their determination, initiative and business skills. We are very grateful for their support."
