Recognition for Spa first aiders

LONG-SERVING members of St John Ambulance have been honoured at a special meeting.
The presentations were made at the headquarters of the group's Droitwich Spa division. The first presentations were made to two retiring members of the Droitwich division who, between them, have clocked up more than 50 years' service.
Nancy Doyle joined the division in the early 80s as vice-president and later became president. Although she has now retired, Nancy still raises money for the division in any way she can.
Gail Teague is also a nurse and joined the division in the early 80s as nursing officer. When the then superintendent retired she took over the role.
The presentations were made by the current superintendent, Richard Brown, who joined as a cadet when Gail held the position. Each were given a bouquet of flowers and an ornamental clock.
Another presentation was made to Charles Brown, who received a fifth bar to his service medal, which represents the completion of more than 37 years' service with St John Ambulance in Worcestershire.
Charles started as a cadet in Bromsgrove. He later progressed to the adult division where he rose to the position of divisional superintendent.
He was invested as a Serving Brother of the Order of St John (SBStJ) and later promoted within the order to the level of Officer Brother (OStJ).
His bar and certificate were presented by Anne Carter, formerly president of Worcestershire St John Ambulance, and chairman of the St John Council for Hereford and Worcester.
