TALENTED Spa youngster Charlie Green wowed pop mogul Simon Cowell with a brilliant performance on ITV's Britain's Got Talent show.

The ten-year-old Westacre Middle School pupil stole the show on Saturday when he performed Frank Sinatra's popular hit Summer Wind in front of Simon and his fellow celebrity judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan. The youngster, who lives with his mum and dad in Coppice Way, received a standing ovation from the crowd and gained three yes votes from the judges as he set out to win £100,000 and an opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety show in front of Prince Charles.

Simon Cowell branded the performance "fantastic" and described Charlie as "a little star".

Amanda Holden said: "You could win this show."

Journalist Piers Morgan told the Spa lad "you have it all."

And Charlie is no stranger to singing in front of royalty after performing for HRH Princess Anne at St James' Palace in 2005.

He said: "It was a brilliant experience. I am not usually nervous before I sing, but I was when waiting backstage.

"It was one of the biggest crowds I have performed in front of and it was great to sing for Simon Cowell and the other judges.

"I now just need to wait and see if I make the semi-final. I don't know how I will do because there are a lot of talented people who have taken part."

Charlie, who said it was also great to meet Ant and Dec, said he will now concentrate on just being a normal lad while he waits for a decision.

"I love football and cricket and pool, as well as singing," he said.

Charlie, who appeared in the Advertiser last year after releasing a Christmas single to raise funds for a friend with muscular dystrophy, was also interviewed by presenters Ant and Dec before his performance.

Charlie wants to be given the chance to build on his success by earning a place in the Saturday night talent show's semi-final, which will be broadcast live in the week beginning Monday, May 26. However, lucky Droitwich Spa residents are set to get an opportunity to see the talented singer when he appears alongside his school choir at the Sacred Heart Church, Droitwich, on Saturday, May 10.
