Village of the year
THE search has begun for Worcestershire's Village of the Year 2008.
The competition, which is run by Calor - the UK's supplier of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) - has just been launched and entry packs have been sent to the county's villages inviting them to enter.
Competitions organiser Pauline Dumville is encouraging entries from every village in the county.
The contest is designed to promote community involvement in village life.
Worcestershire's competition organiser, Pauline Dumville, said: "Worcestershire villages have always responded positively to the competition, but we hope that entry levels will be up in 2008. Entering the competition is a great way for communities and residents to work together towards a common goal, which can be extremely rewarding."
Later in 2008, the Calor Worcestershire Village of the Year winner will have the added honour of being nominated to go forward and represent their county in the prestigious Calor Village of the Year for England competition 2008/9.
This will give that village the opportunity of gaining recognition at national level, as well as a share of a prize fund totalling more than £40,000.
Entry forms for the 2008 county competition can be obtained from Andrea Cooper at Community First by telephoning 01684 312730 or downloaded from www.comfirst.org.uk
