A LONG-SERVING Spa councillor has been officially named as an honorary freeman of the town.
Conservative councillor Don Lawley, who represents the Tagwell ward on Droitwich Spa Town Council and Droitwich South East for Wychavon District Council, has become the first serving councillor to be given the prestigious honour.
The accolade was first proposed by town mayor, Richard Morris, at a town council meeting last year.
Cllr Lawley, who is currently chairman of Wychavon District Council - a position he is holding for the second time - sat on the borough council in 1969 and was one of the first members of the town council in 1973.
