Parking concern
WHILST I was unable to attend the recent Droitwich Town Council meeting I should like to add my support to the residents who spoke on the subject of parking in Ombersley Road.
The current parking situation exacerbates a problem which has existed for some time at the junction of this road and Stalls Farm Road.
Currently, priority is given to traffic up and down Ombersley Road with 'Give Way' sign and road markings against traffic on Stalls Farm Road. This is illogical as Ombersley Road is a no through road. Many 'local' drivers completely ignore the sign and road markings anyway - with the result that there have been several near accidents at the junction.
The 'No Through Road' sign coming down Ombersley Road is badly sited and in summer is often obscured by foliage. This means that drivers unfamiliar with the area continue down Ombersley Road - including HGVs and often at excessive speed - only to be faced with the 'dead end' under the railway bridge.
The fact that many pedestrians (including children coming to and from the High and Middle Schools and parents with prams, pushchairs and toddlers) ignore the pavement and walk in the middle of the road means that there will one day be a serious accident - particularly as the number of vehicles now parked restricts vision for both pedestrians and drivers.
