Adds to the cost
REGARDING the on-street parking by Droitwich rail commuters, I can sympathise with some of the difficulties caused by vehicles being parked too close to road junctions.
However, I feel that Councillor Graham Gospill's comments, reported in last week's Advertiser, wherein he branded people avoiding the new parking charges as selfish people', to be totally selfish on his part.
How does he expect commuters to find almost £70 a month, every month, just to park their car before even buying their train tickets to get to work?
Soon it will be cheaper to stay at home and claim unemployment benefit!
Perhaps Cllr Gospill should remember those Wychavon residents who elected him and start working for us all instead of just the residents in the streets concerned and have the station car park charges abolished. That would solve the on-street parking problems at a stroke.
It's not as if Wychavon District Council was unaware of the problems the charges would create; rail travellers made their feelings known when the original plans were being considered - and the council indicated they had no objections!
