Vanishing trees

Have readers noticed how many trees are vanishing throughout Droitwich in recent years?

We had beautiful flowering Cherries every 15 yards along both sides of Saint Andrews Road, Ombersley Street West and Colman Row, now depleted.

Now prominent trees forming the skyline of Lido Park are being cut down and their trunks carved into modern art' on the excuse they may be diseased. Well according to a tree surgeon I asked, if they were so diseased they should be removed completely - not cut off at 12 feet and opened up so spores can spread to healthy neighbours.

Will this ploy be used to remove over 100 specimen trees from our Covercroft car parks before they are sold to developers, so there is no need to plant substitutes elsewhere?

I think its time we identified council officers sanctioning such wide scale habitat destruction in our Spa and voted to root them out next election.
