A STOURPORT-based recruitment firm has landed a lucrative contract to find skilled engineers for a new multi-million factory.

Consilium Recruit has been appointed by The London Taxi Company as one of its partners for the new facility currently being built on Ansty Park near Coventry.

Consilium, which also has a base in Stratford-upon-Avon, will be recruiting for a number of engineering and manufacturing posts

The company has a division which is specifically aimed at taking on highly skilled engineers, managers and advanced manufacturing technicians.

Coventry-based London Taxi Company - manufacturer of the iconic London taxicab - has chosen Ansty Park as the site for a new state-of-the-art 80,000sq metre factory to make an upgraded “green” version of the classic London cab, due to be launched in 2018.

Production of the current TX4 will remain at the company’s base in Holyhead Road, Coventry.

The London Taxi Company has also said that the new Ansty Park facility will create around 1,000 jobs.

Ansty Park has already attracted considerable investment in technology, research and development and is home to the Manufacturing Technology Centre, which is also served by Consilium Recruit.

The new plant will ultimately have the capacity to build 36,000 vehicles a year. The investment has been backed by the UK Regional Growth fund and other UK and local government support.

Consilium director Steve Doyle said: “We are delighted to be involved in such an important project for the region, and for automotive manufacture in Britain.

“The work will involve recruiting for some challenging positions, but we have a track record of recruiting a wide spread of engineering talent with the advanced skill-sets required for the engineering and manufacturing technologies of tomorrow.”
