WORCESTERSHIRE accountancy firm Ormerod Rutter showed its support for sport, arts and community groups by sponsoring a Spirit of Bromsgrove award.

The fast-growing practice, which has an office in the town, sponsored the Outstanding Community Organisation Award won by Starlight Café and Community Centre in Charford.

Ormerod Rutter team leader Dina O’Brien and apprentice Ellis Share presented the award to the café’s team of dedicated volunteers at a glittering ceremony at Artrix.

Senior partner Julian Dyer said: “We support many local businesses and organisations from our office in Birmingham Road and it’s fantastic to see such great work going on in the community. We were proud to sponsor this award and help to raise awareness of the positive impact made by sport, arts and community organisations across the district.”

Run by bdht – Bromsgrove’s largest provider of affordable housing – Starlight is a community café offering services including youth groups, disability youth groups, weekly craft groups and drug and alcohol recovery sessions.

All profits are ploughed back into the facility.

Bromsgrove District Council’s leisure and cultural services portfolio holder Councillor Rod Laight added: “A huge thank you to all our award sponsors. Without them the second Spirit of Bromsgrove Awards would not be possible.”

Founded more than 30 years ago, Ormerod Rutter provides a wide range of services to individuals and businesses including auditing, bookkeeping and corporate finance.

The firm also has offices in Droitwich Spa.
