MANUFACTURERS seeking to get the most from their power presses now have access to new solutions to the age old problems of downtime, tool issues and high maintenance costs, with the launch of a new Black Country press monitoring specialist.

Set up by the Directors of Worcester Presses, Titan Monitoring has spent the last twelve months designing and developing a range of load monitoring systems and calibration equipment that was officially unveiled at MACH 2016 in front of over 20,000 industry visitors.

Over £100,000 has been invested in developing new systems that can be configured to suit any size or make of power press and a number of units are already in use with local companies who have reported impressive results.

Bosses at the Stourbridge-based firm are expecting to secure £250,000 of sales in the first year, after receiving significant interest from suppliers to the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors.

Tony Carter, Director of Titan, said: “By installing load monitoring equipment, manufacturers can ensure that they are getting optimum performance from their presses.

“Our equipment enables immediate diagnosis of load faults, which ensures greater accuracy when producing components, resulting in less waste and downtime and ultimately, more efficient production.

“Ensuring that the press is operating at the desired tonnage can also reduce maintenance costs and prolongs the life of both tool and press.

“Accurate load information also allows offset loads to be correctly balanced, meaning the press and die will operate more efficiently and again, maintenance will be reduced.”

He added: “We have many years’ experience of working on power presses across all sectors and we have utilised this knowledge, together with the latest electronics expertise, to come up with a range of new equipment including load monitors, tool sensing and electronic cam packages.

“These can be individually configured to suit customer requirements and maximise the performance of their equipment.”

Titan controls the full manufacturing process in its Black Country factory, which enables it to turn orders around quickly and a team is in place to carry out installations on existing or new presses.

As part of its initial growth, the firm has already created three new jobs to help with the roll-out of the business, including Kevin Gardner (Sales Manager) and Michelle Hall (Business Manager).

Michelle said: “Installing a load monitor or making sure existing monitors are properly calibrated makes perfect business sense as, for a relatively small investment, a load monitor will pay for itself many times over in terms of increased productivity and the protection it offers the more costly tooling and press."

And Kevin added: “It has taken us twelve months to develop the technology and now we are ready to get it out to the wider market. MACH represents the perfect place to launch our new solutions which will make power presses more efficient and profitable.”
