ONE of London’s most prestigious new commercial developments is set to be protected by Stourbridge firm Argus Fire.

The New-Road based fire protection company has secured a contract worth more than £2million to design and install a sprinkler system and water supplied for the £220m London Wall Place development.

Argus Fire has already started work fitting out the 300,000 sq ft shell of the City of London-based build, which is hoped to be completed in the spring of next year.

Matt Lincoln, the company’s managing director, said: “We are delighted that our specialist skills and experience and excellent working relationship have resulted in our fifth national project for Brookfield Multiplex.”

The Stourbridge firm has also secured a £1m contract to protect a new energy from waste (EfW) plant from fire.

Mercia Waste Management has enlisted the company’s help to design and build the fire prevention systems for the new EnviRecover facility which will occupy a site at Hartlebury Trading Estate, near Stourport.

Work has already started on site by Argus Fire’s new ‘special risks department’, which specialises in protecting industrial premises where highly combustible materials are used or those that carry a higher devastating fire risk than normal.

Phil Watkins, senior project manager in the department, added: “We are delighted that our long-standing experience and expertise in protecting EfW plants has led to our first contract with Mercia Waste Management in our own back yard.

“We are looking forward to playing a major role in reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill across Worcestershire and Herefordshire by ensuring that the burning of waste to create renewable electricity will remain a safe operation.”
