A PERSON has died after a vehicle left the road in Belbroughton this morning, (March 14).

The incident happened on the B4188 Hackman’s Gate, between Belbroughton and Blakedown, at 11.30am.

The emergency services, including fire crews, the ambulance service and police, attended after being called to a report of a vehicle on fire in a field.

One person was declared dead at the scene.

PC Mounter, from West Mercia Police, said: "A number of people stopped at the scene and one of the reports suggests the car, believed to be a grey Rover 75, may have been on fire before it left the road and went through a hedge into a field.

"The investigation is still at a very early stage and we are currently trying to establish what happened and to identify the person who died.”

He added they are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who saw anything unusual in that area at the time to call 0300 333 3000, quoting incident 185-s-140312, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the driver, who was confirmed deceased at scene.”
