A BROMSGROVE breakfast club has been given a grant to help ensure its work with town youngsters continues.

Little Gems Kids Club, based at Catshill First School, in Gibb Lane, took over the running of the village’s breakfast and after school club in 2010.

As part of Kelloggs’ Help Give a Child a Breakfast campaign, a grant of £450 has been awarded to the kids club.

It is one of 500 receiving the grant nationwide in a bid to help fund these clubs, as one in every eight has been forced to close in recent years.

Little Gems provides an opportunity for Catshill youngsters, who attend the village’s breakfast and after school clubs, to enjoy a healthy breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere before starting the school day, and educational play based activities before and after school.

Similar clubs are also run for Fairfield First, Sidemoor First and Belbroughton First youngsters, as well as an out of term time holiday club for youngsters.

Vicki Ashcroft, assistant manager, said the grant will really help the club, and fund some of the equipment and games for the children.
