AFTER many requests from older residents living in the Wythall area, Age UK Bromsgrove & District is pleased to announce the launch of a new club.
The Wednesday Club will take place at Dennis Potter Court, in Hadley Close, Wythall, every Wednesday from 10am and will host a varied programme of events and guest speakers for older residents.
Alison Schofield, chief executive of Age UK Bromsgrove & District, said “I am delighted after many months of hard work, we are able to open this new club, giving local older people the chance to meet up once a week, enjoy a nice meal together and to relax in a friendly environment.
“Sadly in this difficult financial climate, with spending cuts, day services for older people are often the first to go, and whilst we have been successful in raising some funds I will continue to work with the staff to identify further funding to ensure the group’s future.
“I would like to thank all staff and volunteers, including the Dennis Potter Court, for making this day possible.”
The Age UK Group works to improve later life for everyone by providing life-enhancing services and vital support across the country.
